I built my own practice management software. Then an AI receptionist. Then an ordering platform for food shops. Now I help other business owners do the same.

I'm Craig Laird from Newcastle. I've been running businesses my whole life. I'm not a traditional developer — I build practical AI tools for business owners who'd rather focus on running their business than figuring out the tech.

Let's have a conversation

What I've Built

Three real products. Built for real businesses. Running right now.

Nexus practice management dashboard

Practice Management

Nexus

Built for my own clinic. Running with 2,000+ patients.

A full clinical practice management system I built for my own pedorthics practice. It runs across multiple clinics in regional NSW, manages over 2,000 patients, handles custom footwear orders from specification through to delivery, tracks supplier shipments automatically, sends SMS reminders, captures consent and proof of delivery on iPad, and integrates with Xero for billing. I built every bit of it myself.

AI Receptionist

Maggie

Answers the phone, books appointments, never sleeps.

Maggie answers our phone line around the clock. She speaks with an Australian accent, takes new patient details, books appointments directly into our calendar, and handles confirmations and callbacks — without a human picking up the phone. When she can't help, she hands off to the team. She is live on our Newcastle and Tamworth clinics right now.

Pickup Ordering

Click-O

No commission. No hardware. Just a QR code.

A simple online ordering platform built for independent Australian food shops — butchers, fish and chip shops, pizza places, takeaways. Customers order ahead and pick a time. The shop gets a structured order instead of a phone call and a handwritten note. Built-in product libraries, multilingual support, and AI-assisted menu setup — all included in one monthly subscription.

Sound Familiar?

You've been running your business for years. You know something needs to change. But every time you look into it, it feels like it was built for someone else.

I keep hearing about AI but I have no idea where to start.

Every seminar, every article, every post online assumes you already know things you don't. Nobody is explaining it in plain English to someone who just wants to run their business better.

I've been sold to by people who've never run a business.

They show you impressive demos and then disappear when it comes to actually making it work for the way you operate day to day.

I don't want to rip out everything and start again.

You've got systems that work. You don't need a revolution. You just need something practical that fits around what you already do.

Who is Craig Laird?

I've been building businesses since I was 13 years old.

I spent two years growing up in Hawaii and used to sell flower leis to tourists to earn money. That instinct — spot a problem, find a solution, make it work — never went away.

I've been running Walk Easy Pedorthics in Newcastle for nine years. Before that, a lifetime of different businesses. I'm not someone who came to this late. I've always been the person who figures things out.

A few years ago I decided to build my own practice management software because nothing on the market did what I actually needed. I didn't know how to code. I learned by working with AI tools — describing what I needed, testing what came back, fixing what broke.

I started in December last year. Six months later, Nexus was live — a full clinical platform managing 2,000+ patients across multiple clinics, with an AI phone receptionist, automated supplier tracking, Xero integration, and a custom footwear manufacturing workflow that sends detailed technical orders to our factory overseas.

Six months. From zero.

I'm not a 25 year old developer. I'm a 57 year old business owner who has been solving problems his whole life and found a new set of tools to do it with. Now I want to help other business owners do the same.

How I Can Help

I don't sell packages. I don't have a brochure. I start with a conversation.

1

We talk about your business

Tell me how it runs, where the time goes, what's frustrating you. I listen like a business owner, not a developer.

2

We find the right problem to solve first

Not everything needs AI. Sometimes the answer is simple. We find the one thing that would make the biggest difference and start there.

3

I build it and hand it over

Whatever we build, you'll be able to use it without any technical knowledge. If it breaks, I fix it. If you need more, we keep going.

Let's have a conversation.

No pitch. No proposal. Just a straight talk about your business and whether I can help.
